I had been in a LOT of pain after a series of overtraining, over exerting, sport-focused work and an "accident". I went from strong and an athlete to a mess. 2 years of pain, icing, trigger point therapy, chiropractic work, acupuncture, tens and electrode pads, massage therapy, stretching, etc. for self and supported therapy and I was still having pain cycles. I was continuing the pain cycle and not realizing that maybe my approach wasn't working. After integrating Dr. Matt's knowledge, I have been able to find pain free times because I am allowing my body to rest and am no longer fighting with my body and perpetuating the cycle myself. I still need to work on not over-exerting my system and some strengthening, which is hard for me, but when I listen to his advice, I can be out of pain quickly fairly. It amazes me that where I think the pain is stemming from is not usually where the pain is stemming from. My whole paradigm has shifted and I no longer feel stuck and like my life will be about pain. I have learned to connect to and partner with my body and nervous system, which is creating a long-term health I couldn't have foreseen. I am grateful for Dr. Matt's knowledge and approach. If it were not for Rochester Pain and Performance, I would still be in the pain cycle today. Surviving, but not thriving. I wish I found him sooner, but I'm glad he's on my team now! I'm still grappling with understanding the process, but the results are real.
Dr. Matt is knowledgeable and down to earth. He is easy to talk with and does a great job of explaining how our bodies work and how to correct problems. I came to him for a second opinion when I was told by traditional medical doctors that I would need surgery to fix the chronic pain in my hands. After two visits with Dr. Matt the pain and lack of mobility in my hands were gone. I have full use of my hands again and no surgery! I recommend him to anyone experiencing pain.
Big recommendation for Dr. Matt! I have been having shoulder pain for a few months (all the signs of a rotator cuff problem), and worried that I was headed for a major issue. Dr. Matt found the problem, instantly reduced the pain by 90%, and gave me exercises to do at home to help it to continue healing. That one visit very possibly saved me from a surgery down the road. Thankful!
