I called Jack, because he had worked in our building and I had read some good reviews but unfortunately not all of the reviews. While Jack called back right away and came to look at the plumbing work which was a fairly standard toilet hook up, he did not follow up after that and I lost several days waiting for him to return calls, texts, emails. I finally called someone else.
Please disregard previous EC review on Bek Plumber & Heating I wrote that plumber Dzema aka Jack had requested. I rarely write reviews, Jack asked several times in order to beef up his reviews in hopes that others will see his ratings and hire him. I hired him once and realize now I was too quick to judge his character for my intentions were to hire him again to repair my furnace yet his service was not the same. His actions were not as I knew on the first visit. I thought he was a honest, reliable, knowledgeable, covid compliance plumber that I would use in the future but he proven to me I was wrong, his actions differ. I was satisfied when he replaced parts on my hot water tanks but he strung me along for several weeks on cleaning and replacing a gas control valve on my furnace. He gave me one excuse after another to schedule this job. I even verbally told him if he wasn't interested in the job or too busy no worries just let me know. He indicated those weren't the reasons he doesn't want to turn away a customer and agreed to do it.A date / time was finally scheduled, Friday around noon yet 1p, 2p no show / no text / no call. Finally ~2:15p he called stating another job took longer in which is understandable but I should of received a call closer to my scheduled appointment letting me know he is off schedule. He then asks if he should come over then or Tuesday. I told him whatever is best for him. He decided to come over, arrived around 3:13p but to my surprise not to do the job but to take a photo of back of the gas control value, stayed ~ 13 minutes. He had already taken front photos of this valve when he replaced parts on the hot water tanks. I was shocked, I thought he was going to do the job as discussed numberous times for I had just cancelled another late afternoon appointment. I told him I could of saved him time and taken a photo and forward to him days ago. He then tells me Tuesday @ 9a he will do the work. I texted him on Monday twice, once in the afternoon and once in the evening asking if he got the valve and to confirm next day's appointment. No reply until Tuesday at 7:35a I got a text indicating he is having a hard time getting the part, he will order it online and will contact me when the part comes in. I texted him the next day and asked if he ordered the valve. No reply. Again the following day I texted him if he is ignoring my texts or too busy to text back. No reply. I called a pumbling supplier and spoke to an employee that told me the reality is Jack is avoiding me. He doesn't know what he is doing and a gas control valve aren't difficult to find, not to worry but to find an experienced plumber. He put me at ease. Thanks to that employee for that is what I needed to hear. I immediately called another plumber that came the next day. This plumber replaced the gas control valve and cleaned the furnace all with no issues on the same visit. Furnace is working, I have heat and most of all peace of mind. I asked this plumber if a gas control valve was difficult to find and without hesitation he informed me it's available just as the plumbing supply employee indicated. If Jack was upfront, honest, reliable, respectful, knowledgeable and didn't strung me along for weeks, eventually ghosted me, wasted my time I could of avoid stressing if valve may had been discontinued since he said he had difficulty finding it. I am thankful ac was required during this time and not heat for Jack would of not had care and would of had left me in the cold! To avoid frustration, aggravation and time I would NOT recommend calling him for "ALL" services.
Highly recommend!!!I cannot begin to tell you how great Jack is. He came over on the same day and looked at the toilet and took measurements. And 2 days later, he came to install it. He was on time and very pleasant to work with. He is a very honest person. At first, he said, let me take a look. It could be an easy fix if the water is just back flowing. You don’t need a new toilet. But I insisted it’s an old toilet, and would just like to replace the whole thing. Peace of mind. You can tell Jack takes pride in his work. He left the area cleaned and took out the old toilet to the garbage area.After all that was one, he also helped my dad cut and replaced his drop ceiling in his bathroom. That was so kind of him. He didn’t have to, but went out of his way to help him. That meant a lot to me.I would definitely use Jack at Bek Plumbing & Heating again.
