Salsa In Queens, founded by Jean Franco Vergaray, is the new Latin Movement in Astoria, Queens. The studio aims to create a positive environment that nurtures respect and kindness through the exciting art of dance. Their classes help improve confidence, communication, and health, and highlight the need for acceptance with ourselves as well as others. The studio offers a great class structure, quality instruction, and fun social events that make learning salsa enjoyable. Many students mention that Salsa In Queens introduced them to the world of salsa over six years ago, and it kept them dancing and progressing through the years. The instructors, Sasha and Tyrone, are praised for their excellent teaching methods. Sasha is great for beginners, slowing down the steps and providing a solid foundation. Tyrone's "Salsa On Two" and "shines" pattern footwork classes are informative and fun, with a focus on breaking down the basics before moving to partner work. Tyrone is described as attentive, patient, and knowledgeable, creating a welcoming, friendly, clean, and supportive environment. The studio hosts Salsa socials near nearby bars, providing a fun and social atmosphere where students can practice their new skills. The vibe is warm and friendly, and students feel comfortable and encouraged to enjoy dancing to Latin music. Overall, Salsa In Queens is highly recommended for both experienced and novice Salsa dancers, offering a supportive and inclusive atmosphere to learn and enjoy this vibrant dance form.
