I've grown up here. I started when I was 7. The people there became my second family. George Ashkar is like a second father. I've traveled the country competing nationally with them. I am honored to have my name put up on the dojo wall with all the others who have achieved their Black Belt. 31 years later, I still hold the values taught to me. They teach l traditional and practical Shotokan Karate. They also have Judo and Kung Fu classes. You enter that dojo, you will leave with a lifetime of valuable lessons and memories, and you will always return.

I used to go to this school in the late 90s/early 2000s (up until I got married and moved). Last week I was visiting “the old neighborhood” and was so happy to see the school is still there, and if it wasn’t because it wasn’t open yet, I would’ve gone in. Shihan Aschkar is up there as one of the greatest people I have ever known-an incredible mentor. If I still lived in the area, I would be there today, as would my children.

After trying various Martial Arts Schools and in an effort to get back in shape, after 20 years; I've returned to this Karate School.I do not know the new instructors or many of the new students. I do know the head instructor (George). He is a traditional Karate-ka.Here kids and adults learn the basics of Martial Arts, life skill/ other essential values like discipline and respect.IF you are looking for grappling and hardcore fighting, this may NOT be the place for you. But, If you are seeking fitness/... read full review
