Doctor Sarah Modi and his staff performed a true Christmas miracle! Let me start with I had sudden onset of a cataract at 49 years old! I had no explanation. And many concerns of possible future problems. From having almost perfect vision, than reading glasses, to cataracts is very frightening. I have no idea why it happened but with in a year it was fully matured and my eye pupil was completely white. First was my glasses experience with other doctors. It took 5 appointments last year to get glasses to work( not at dr Modi’s). It actually took the glasses store to help me by offering a trial pair to try at the store. It was just sample lens held by a metal frame. It worked for a while! Contact lens I wasn’t able to figure out a good multi focal! So I just happened to try one I had for reading years ago +1.50 mono focal and it was amazing seeing clear at least far, with one eye. So as per the extremely hard time losing my vision and the intricate artwork I do. Henna, and Facepainting, I even used to write a name on a grain of rice. It was a very lonely and scary road. So I studied every single cataract lens watched every video on the procedure and tried to pick a doctor. It was actually easy to pick a doctor when I thought about the lens I wanted, which was very rare. It was a clear view three lens, and Dr. Modi was the only one who had placed them in New York. When I went into Dr. Modi I met him. And I was actually very pleasantly surprised with his kindness and gentleness and patience in explaining the best he can on what he thinks is best. We went back-and-forth a little bit and he explained to me that he would put in whatever ones I wanted, but he recommended the more traditional multifocal lens. I decided that I wanted the newer odyssey lens at that time. Then I spent weeks and weeks absolutely petrified of getting this procedure. In the meantime, I made sure I exchange the lens on my prescription glasses with a blank lens and I also just happen to have a pirate eyepatch that came in handy too. I put it over my glasses to keep the brightness down while still seeing with the other eye. Procedure day came and I couldn’t have been more scared. They placed a cap and drape over my clothes. When he walked into the room, though all my fear is diminished. They placed 3x drops in my eyes, and an IV. Then you go into the surgical room. It was very neat and clean. Looked like thick a padded black table with instruments around. Then they covered my eye with something you could see through the dots and when they started the procedure, I felt nothing, but I actually felt a little tickling. Then all of a sudden it looked like a dirty window was being washed away in circular motion, and there was a rainbow of euphoric lights moving around. Then I could actually see the lens being placed in. By the time I walked out of the office Dr. Modi had just said can you see the exit sign? And I said yes, and I could see all the fine little details of the little tiny sign in front of me and they’re beautiful faces. My eyes were dilated and operation just done. But besides the bright lights and rings I saw initially . I saw perfect. They since diminished. Now I am putting drops in. I started with the drops a couple days before the surgery until a couple weeks after.
Day 1- everything was extremely bright. The white that I thought were off-white or bright white. I saw rings and halos around lots of lights. I was asked to keep my eyes closed. When I finally started opening my eyes, it was easiest just to put a pirates eyepatch over my eye just to do the brightness.
Plus they sent me out with very nice sunglasses. That I’ve seen other doctors send their patients out with non- just a clear cover for the eye that made brightness unbearable .
Finished on second review!!!“

“I am adding my voice to the chorus of stellar reviews that Brion has already received. First of all, his optical shop is so beautiful, with an array of attractive glasses. In the 60 years I have been wearing glasses, I have never received the high level of care and attention that Brion provides. Throughout the process - of choosing the right pair, taking measurements, fitting them properly on my face - Brion was highly knowledgeable and meticulous. It is so clear that he is deeply invested in his clients' happiness and comfort with their new glasses. And - his kindness shines through, every step of the way.
Brion is a gem. Needless to say, I highly recommend him and Optique Elegance!“
