Walked in on a Monday afternoon and there was no wait. My 3 year old son is always nervous about getting his hair cut but Eddy was so sweet and gentle with him that he sat still the whole time. John cut my husbands hair. Both the cuts looked great, they really take their time and pay attention to detail. They were both so sweet to my 2 kids and even gave them both an extra lollipop. Will definitely be back.

I've been going to John at Down Port for a couple years now. I switched from going to a salon style service to a barbershop per a friends recommendation. Well, I do not regret this decision. I won't go anywhere else for a haircut. John listens to instructions well and knows exactly what I want, even before I sit down. Everyone is always welcoming, and yes, they are into soccer, so what. For everyone leaving bad reviews based on this, that's juvenile. We all have something we are passionate about. If you don't like soccer, don't watch it. Just go in, sit down, get a haircut, and shut up.

When I first moved to the area 20+ years ago, there was a nice Italian couple that owned this establishment. I'd bring in my sons who were babies and the three of us would get haircuts. Then the husband passed and his wife who also cut great hair, with sadness sold the business and moved away. New owners came in and now my teenagers wanted a "Skater cut" so we stopped coming to the shop. I noticed they offered a hot towel shave, every once in a while I'd slide in for a hot towel shave or a quick haircut. Whenever I had a big event like a wedding, I'd stop in for a shave. I don't go anywhere else for a shave, I like coming to Down Port Barber... read full review
