(A zero star rating is not given as an option.) I have been a customer of Panstar Propane in excess of 20 years. Recently I decided to change companies. I came to realize that I have been overpaying, for years, by as much as $2.00 per unit. Over $6.00 per unit has been the norm with Panstar. I started to do some research to see what the other suppliers were charging and most were quoting $4.79 per unit. In fact, I was told by the company I decided to go with that their price has not changes in many years. Now, having changed companies, I asked Panstar to come and pick up their tank, a full tank since I recently received a delivery. Today I received what I thought was a refund check. Surprise, they charged me $125.00 plus tax to retrieve the tank. They credited the unused portion of propane ant $5.799 per unit. My refund, and did not even accompany the invoice, is for $3.45. Overcharged for years and now charging me $125.00 to pick up their tank, wow! Folks, do your research and I strongly suggest that you DO NOT even think of purchasing from Panstar and if you are, do some research and find someone else.
I recently bought a house in northeast PA and was told that Panstar Propane was the provider for the propane. I was also told that the plowing of the driveway was included with my hoa fee. My real estate agent insisted that we run the water in the previously winterized house so I then needed to have the heat on at 55F and this was my plan going forward so I called the propane company and asked them to deliver. They would not if I did not know the amount in the tanks so it waited another week for me to get back up there to find that the tanks were near empty. I asked for a delivery and expected that this was done during the week. I heard nothing from the company. On the weekend I went up and the driveway was snowy and I had that horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach. Disaster. As it turns out the plowing wasn't included so I had to set this up and when I called Panstar, a nice woman on the weekend worked with me to help me turn off the propane tanks (whole house smelled like gas and was very cold since they were now empty and no delivery was done. They hadn't even let me know!!) So she is nice and tells me their PA guy can deliver me Monday on his way into work. This never happens. When I call on Monday, a different woman was very rude and puts me on with "her boss" who basically says they won't be delivering propane to me because the driveway was snowy one time (not my fault that I was told wrong information by the seller!) and they will let me know when they are back in PA. They never called me again. Months later, I came up one time and the propane tanks were removed from my property and they left a bill at that house (not my mailing address) charging me for the tank pickup that I never asked for. Despicable. This customer service is the worst I have ever seen. Their willingness to allow rural people who have very little other options to go without heat all winter is unbelievable. No compassion or empathy at all. If you have any choice, use someone else.
Amazing and friendly service. We were not on an automatic delivery and ran out of gas which we use for water and heating the house. They delivered in a major snowstorm on a Sunday afternoon. We are so happy with the way we were being treated and would whole-heartedly recommend Panstar to anyone seeking amazing customer service and reliability.
