This is by far, the BEST Pilates studio in NYC! Ann Toran is a Master trainer with Balanced Body Pilates. She is incredibly knowledgeable and has amazing cueing and can get you to do things you could never imagine possible! I HIGHLY recommend the studio, instructors, classes, private training and instructor training at this studio!
I took a Level 1 Reformer Pilates class with Gabby Barnes and it was the best I could've done for my body! I really enjoyed her playlist. She played Frank ocean, SZA and Steve Lacey. She took the pressure and seriousness off of Pilates and created a warm welcoming environment. It was only my second Pilates class and I didn't feel intimated at all by the machine, work out and endurance. I really felt the burn afterwards and didn't feel like the work out was too easy unlike other Pilates classes I've taken in the past. this class was challenging yet effective! I didn't feel like I was going to pass out after the work out. I really recommend Gabby as an instructor to new Pilate members! She's encouraging and compliments her students when she sees them doing a great job. I feel like Lori Harvey every time I leave my Pilates session!! I will be coming back for more
As many others have said -- this place is the real deal. Owned by a true New York Queen as well as a Pilates master, it is one of a few non-corporate studios left in the city. All the instructors have different approaches and it is extremely valuable to take classes with as many different people as you can, so as to learn the most. In the world of corporate chains, supporting our local small business is more important than ever.
