I was recommended to John at JJS for his excellent color work -- and I am very pleased I found him. His haircuts are also exactly what I ask for -- he really listens! I have very curly hair. I've noticed his other customers he's finishing up before me, or waiting, and they have straight hair and I also see quite a few kids. I highly recommend him for cuts and color.

This place is great for men's haircuts (and for women's, judging by the repeat clientele). John has been cutting my hair for about five years. He always does a terrific job, remembers the problems my hair presents, and follows my instructions on the rare occasion when I want him to do something else -- or tells me frankly when he can't do what I've asked or thinks it would be a bad idea. He's earned my trust. The shop's vibe is very friendly and low key. I'm still amazed at how inexpensive it is compared to so many places in town. This salon is an Upper West Side treasure. I was so glad when they opened again after vaccines became available.

My fiancé needed to get his haircut before going to a wedding he was officiating - so it was important he got a good haircut...safe to say Sandy did the most amazing job and was such a pleasure to talk to throughout the haircut. We will be back!!
