Yes, I definitely recommend The Eliut Salon at 30 East 60th Street, between Park Avenue and Madison Avenue. By Appointment. I am very happy with my color and cut. Patrick did my color, and Marina, cut and styled my hair. Here is how I came to Eliut: it had been 6 years since I had had my hair professionally cut. My last professional haircut was at Phyto, a very well respected hair & education salon located at Lex/58 St, above street level. They could examine your hair under a microscope and tell you all about your hair, and what you needed. If you ever walked by Bloomingdale's, and looked up, you'd see beautiful green plants, lots of green leaves up totally covering the windows. TOTALLY. Well, MARINA CUT MY HAIR IN 2015, she was at Phyto, and I kept her card, because I knew that when I wanted to cut my hair again, I wanted this WONDERFUL LADY to cut it. I had come in on crutches, because I was recuperating from ankle tendon surgery. Marina could not have been any nicer. I was very happy with my haircut, and when I went back to work I received a lot of compliments. I knew I would want to see Marina again for my haircut. I just didn't know it would be six years until I would see Marina again. :) Between 2015 and now, I was cutting my hair myself, trimming it as I needed or wanted. Then, when the Covid 19 Corona Virus Pandemic happened I was no longer going to where I had my hair colored. So, after about 18 months (a year and a half) I decided it was time to color my hair, so I wouldn't see the gray. Gray, gray, time for you to go away!!!! And that is when I contacted MARINA. I trusted her, and had peace of mind knowing that she was a skilled professional and knew how to listen to a person. That is so very important. Many women have had bad experiences because their hair stylist was doing what they wanted, rather than what the customer was requesting. And that's when you hear those hair stories, those "I said this, and look what the stylist did instead! " And tears. So, I knew I could relax and have PEACE OF MIND if I saw Marina for my cut and style. Marina told me that the colorists were very good at Eliut Salon, and she set up the appointment for Patrick to color my hair, and then, after the color, I would see Marina for my haircut. I read a little bit about Eliut Salon at their website BEFORE going for my appointment. See their website to learn about all the great experience they have. I knew I was in good hands, thanks to Marina. I knew she was good, and would not be with a salon that was not good. From the moment I entered the salon, I felt comfortable AND WELCOMED. After reading about the many celebrities that the salon has worked with over the years, I was hoping it would not feel snooty. And it did not. The man at the desk greeted me with a friendly, welcome smile. And that set the tone. Every person I dealt with was a pleasure. Rita smiled and showed me to the changing room. I put on the cover-up gown, and hung up my shirt/top. This is important so you don't mess up your shirt/top. Rita then showed me to my seat. She asked if I'd like anything to drink such as coffee, tea, cappuccino. I said I'd love a cappuccino since I had not had time to get my Starbucks coffee. I also asked for cold water. A few minutes later Rita appeared with the most lovely looking and tasting cappuccino. I was happy and relaxed. Then Patrick came over and introduced himself, we chatted a bit, and he looked at my hair and then went to mix his creation of color. I am very happy with my color. See photos, including my photo of my cappuccino near the color that Patrick used for me. :) Then it was time for Ms Taka to wash my hair. As I said, every person that I dealt with was very nice. And after my shampoo, then I had my hair cut and styled by MARINA. We discussed what I wanted, and she told me what she would do, and we were set. This is so very important. For some people, this is where their problem starts, when you don't have a clear discussion with your stylist. BE CLEAR, explain wha
I have been seeing Eliut for my cut and Lisa for my color for over 13 years and they continue to be the best. People always compliment me in my hair and other hairdressers have asked to photograph my hair and pretend they cut it (it has happened multiple times!) so I know their work is very very good. Anita is great for blow outs and eyelashes too. Everyone here is the best I have never had a bad experience here.
My review is about Sam Lam and Michael Donnelly, whom I followed to Eliut's. They are simply the best. Sam's method is precision cutting, one very thin layer at a time, almost hair by hair. You can feel the difference, equally important as the style. Michael uses multiple colors in highlights that make them appear totally natural. They both stay up to date on the most current styles and methods and know what will work, or not work, for my hair. This is how good they are - I have been going to Sam and Michael exclusively for 21 years - and have not lived in NYC any of that time. I drove from Harrisburg, PA for the first 7 years, then flew up from Virginia for 6 years, took the train down from Albany, NY for six years and now come up from Philadelphia. Even when I was in Denver, CO for six months I came back to them.
