When I moved to the upper east side I asked the woman who had lived in my apartment for a recommendation for the best manicure in the neighborhood and she sent me to Dorothy's Day Spa. It has been my go to ever since! My nails always look perfect and it is through care and attention and an incredibly well executed manicure which can last for up to 2 weeks if I am really careful! It is a quiet and peaceful place to recharge for the week and emerge looking fabulous!

I'm in my third location with this service going back 40 years. No kidding. Dorothy herself has owned it on 90th Street a good part of this time. The place is scrupulously clean, unpretentiously comfortable, and staffed by an international roster of well-trained, pleasant women. Though it's evolved to offer many services, and Dorothy herself seems to know a great deal about beauty regimes, I myself get regular manicures and pedicures. At the start, knowledgeable staff teaches you how to keep your nails for health and longevity. They also seem aware of nail and foot issues.
