I first met Suki in 1980, when she worked for a salon in the old Bonwit Teller, and I was starting in book publishing. Not long after Donald Trump demolished Bonwit’s, I reached out and Suki informed me she was openIng a salon with a former colleague. They planned to name it Donsuki. Sadly her partner contracted AIDS and died shortly after their launch, and Suki — who’d originally come to the U.S. to study music — found herself running the business. Forty years and 80+ haircuts later, I can vouch that none are better, and few as good as, Suki and her team.
