Today, I was with a group of 13 kids who are part of our running team. We are a mix of ethnicity (Spanish, Asian, and Arabic), gender, and age (11-16 years old). We were on our way to run the Queensboro Bridge as part of our goal that day to run five bridges in one day. Along the way, we passed by ALT for Living. They had an unmanned, small table set up outside their store. On it was what I believe to be a coffee machine, empty cups, and a sign encouraging passerbys to try their drinks for free. One of my students took a cup and poured a drink to try it. None of my students were causing trouble at all. NONE. If they were, they would've heard it from their coach.... read full review

Stumbled across this little gem just fresh of the tram from Roosevelt Island. First I wasn't sure it was a coffee joint at all since the logo isn't exactly shouting "Here, we have coffee, come inside!". Anyway, as I stumbled down the well-painted stairs (I forgot to lift my gaze because the floors were so pretty, I just had to take it all in) the sweet barista entered from the back of the shop. Loads of baked goods, their smallest coffee cup is the same as a regular one i Sweden (yey!) and a quaint window with three stools to sit on while you are enjoying your coffee. I really like this place, & I haven't even looked all around yet. I've only visited once to get a take-out great ice coffee & the best blueberry muffin I've ever had!! Lots of blueberries!!! The best! About the Great ice coffee, --with ice cubes made of coffee, so your ice coffee does not get watered down. Creative, artistic vibe inside. There are gray, black, & white tile floors, done in a pattern, but also, the coolest, hand-painted, matching wood floors, so it's hard to tell which are the tiles & which are the wood--JUST BEAUTIFUL! Love that! Reminds me of Escher (artwork). Service was friendly. I think there are only two, tall stools... read full review
