I used to work at Lowe's, and I mean no disrespect to Lows, but we would get a flood of plants and watering instructions, from bromeliads to roses, to lilies, to vegetables, to everything else. But it didn't translate to sustainable watering and care. Some would be flooded and some would get nothing. Epiphytes would be doused and hibiscus would be browned. Every week, we would send out struggling plants on clearance.

But at Ballantyne, I was impressed that they had different sections for native plants and plants that encouraged pollinators. Even water plants. They had solid astilbe plants and ferns.

Ballantyne is a great resource. If I need plants, I will go to them and recommend them. As a bonus, they also have a very pretty cat and chicken.“
