My experience at New York Golf Club opened my eyes to a sport I never thought I would truly relish. With nearly zero experience, I was a bit nervous and not sure what to expect. That, in itself, placed me at a point of vulnerability – which I am usually not comfortable with, but my first practice was professional and structured in a way that I knew would drive me and challenge me to learn a lifelong sport. I felt safe, and comfortable exposing my lack of abilities, while recognizing the copious amounts of time Lucas spends with youths in the local communities. I quickly realized my lack of experience was nothing to feel reserved about. However, moreover, spending time at the range was tremendously holistic. Being close to nature, moving my body/spine, and using mental agility to focus on instruction left me with a blissful elation and sense of accomplishment each time I left. I really appreciated the introduction Lucas gave me, but disappointed I started so late in the season. Unfortunately, we are at a disadvantage here in NY, where the seasons bestow upon us. With only three lessons concluded before the season ended, I feel confident I will follow the journey and hopefully continue to practice somewhere warm in between. I recommend “taking a swing at” it for all! :)
