Highly recommend Michael and his acupuncture services. He’s kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and thorough.Once, a long time ago, I went to an acupuncturist who shall remain anon and when I asked about the process (“What’s this needle do?”) I was told I didn’t need to understand how it worked. Which did not go over well with me. Michael is the opposite, he can tell you, if you ask him, exactly what he’s doing. He also gave me some exercises for my middle back that are helping a lot.
Please don't take my spots with Michael, I'm afraid of even writing this review because people will flock to him lol. As a fat, queer identified person of colour, I don't generally pick practitioners who are cishet white men (not an offensive thing, I just really prefer seeing people who know what living in an othered body is like) but after my last acupuncturist moved away, I had to find someone who was both close to me and could work with my sensitive issues the way my last one could. Michael is extremely sensitive, and I feel comfortable discussing my health issues with him, which is important with a healthcare practitioner. The needles he uses are gentle and thin, and he explains what he's doing and which points he'll focus on for the session. The herbs he uses are also gentle but potent-- I've had more success with the herbal medicine he's used on me than I have with other formulas in the past, so I love the ebb and flow of what works. He's also super responsive and takes my input and adjusts accordingly. He noted some of the sources of my health issues from a TCM standpoint and after taking his suggestions (begrudgingly-- god, I love an ice cold glass of water) I felt better. So, yeah- he's an integral part of my health support team and if I can say that about a cishet white man, you know he's culturally sensitive enough to handle my issues-- and he might be a good fit for yours too.
MICHAEL. IS. AMAZING.Let me elaborate further: In the last four years, Michael has helped me navigate the world both physically and emotionally though his thoughtful, intentional, and impactful work.Michael is technically astute, but beyond that, he is able to apply his knowledge in ways that many other practitioners are unable to because he is able to let me be my complete self. I firmly believe that it’s because of our strong relationship that Michael is able to truly tailor my treatments and that I’ve progressed the way that I have over time.So here I am, after being treated for many aches and pains and having been with Michael long enough to have him encourage...read full review
