Make an appointment over the phone. Luba, the owner, picks up and explains the prices & services. Full head of highlights is $130. A haircut is $30. If your hair is dried [not blow dried--that costs an additional extra], that will cost you another $10 extra. The salon is small, clean and welcoming. You can get your nails done by a different woman renting space there. Luba is friendly and talkative. She is the kind of hairdresser who shares about her personal life and makes conversation the entire time she's working on your hair. Prepare to talk. Allocate a lot of time for your hair visit. And I mean A LOT. My mother, several neighbors, and I have been customers for many years, and every visit is drawn out into hours. A haircut, a blow dry, a hair color--you will not leave this salon quickly! I spend a minimum of three hours [and a maximum of five] getting my highlights and haircut [long hair]. There are also always waiting and mishaps with appointments. Multiple people are scheduled at the same time, so you WILL wait while Luba works on another customer. Every single time I come in for my appointment, I wait as Luba works on another customer, who was scheduled to come in at the same time/or needs a "quick emergency favor". Waiting and lack of punctual accommodation of your scheduled appointment is frustrating, hence why it is reflected in my rating, which would have been higher otherwise. That being said, Luba does quality work on your hair, if you are crystal clear about what you want. You have to be very specific with explaining what you want your new hair to look like--show photos and discuss it with Luba. The first few times, she did not cut my hair into a style I wanted. After discussing with photos and options, we agreed on a cut that she was able to execute well. Do not assume Luba understood you--triple check that your vision and her understanding align perfectly. Will return and support this local business, which has been holding on for over 15 years.
