Euna is one of the best nail techs I have ever been a client of (and I have been getting my nails done every month for 12 years). She takes her time, pays very close attention to detail, and always ensures I am happy with my dip powder manicure. Specifically, I am a stickler for a neutral, natural set that is thin-- she nails it (lol) every time! My appointment is usually every 3 weeks but I can drag it out to 4 weeks if need be. Also, dip powder manicure at Canaan Beauty is only $35!!! If you're a nail regular, you know this is a STEAL. I also get my gel pedicure with Euna every other appointment and am always well pleased. When I do both, the price is still under $100 including tip! Random plus, Walgreens and Superfresh grocery are right next door, so I always run my errands on the same day. The day I leave Dyker Heights is probably when I will start commuting back to this neighborhood just for Euna at Canaan Beauty Nail & Spa!
I don't really love any of the nail salons in the neighborhood but this one was decent and came to a couple of times. Really wanted to make it my "go to" salon but the interaction this time was so off. The first few times were pretty good and consistent. I decided to get just a regular gel manicure this time instead of my usual powder gel manicure. It was met by a snide comment (in their language) which I actually understood. I let pass but then they started debating how much they would be charging me. They wanted to charged me more because my nails were long but they didn't do this last time and they were even longer. They also said the manicure was "taking too long." It's not my fault that the tech is slow so I shouldn't be charged for time. They're discussing this in their language, again which I partly understood and I felt so uncomfortable. They also charged me to remove the previous powder gel. This is unheard of, especially when you get work done at the same salon. The tech apparently spent so much time on my nails...but the work was so mediocre. It started peeling the very next day. I went to another salon to fix my nails and when they were taking off the gel, it was still wet. It wasn't properly cured!!! I had the same tech before this appointment as well. She made me bleed and cut two of my fingers. One was swollen for a few days. She's also not good with the spinning buffer tool; it was super painful and almost felt like she was going to buff past the nail and into the nail bed.
My second time here. Bad experience. Nobody greets, lady that did my mani lacked professionalism and not friendly. She was skipping the 2-3 min massage at the end until I made a face and another lady saw me as she was massaging a customer next to me who had gotten a pedi. She came back and did a 1 min something that felt like scratching my back rather than massaging. Not returning. I don't live in the area, my mom does. Plenty of other places on 13th Avenue.
