Cannot believe I am writing a review about a funeral home instead of grieving with my family! 1. We were scheduled for a 9am wake. Guest arrived from out of town around 8:45 expecting to be able to see our loved one at 9. At 9am location was still locked, why? Because the body wasn't there yet! Strike 1! Building is opened at 9:20ish, we are then left alone!!! No company representation present! What happened to funeral directors having someone available to the family's needs? Strike 2! What a disappointment! 1430 Unionport Road - Parkchester Funeral Home, the sister to Ortiz in the Bronx is run down and out dated and the staff is cold uncaring and detached. Upon entering Chapel C the sadness I felt from the memorial service was magnified. The furniture was old and dusty, the carpets were stained and the wood on the podium where guest/pastor spoke was chipping and discolored. They didn't even offer a microphone, we were told the day of the service we needed to bring our own.
