We have 3 cats, and a dog that all go to AVH; we've always had a good experience with staff. They're efficient in responses/booking you in; the vets and technicians are attentive to my pets and informative on the care needed for home. I had the best experience ever when I had to take my kitty there on Monday(my veterinarian was closed in Pictou and emergency calls were being sent to Halifax) I called and they said to take her right up. I was met by Dr. Youe, who is one of the most amazing and compassionate people I have had the pleasure in meeting. Tests and x-rays were taken and costs explained upfront. All my questions were answered. The next day, Bella had underwent life saving emergency surgery for a blocked bowel caused by a HAIRBALL.(She is an excessive groomer and an older kitty) Surgery was performed by Dr. Harrison, who again was amazing and answered all my questions with a full explanation as to what was done and the expectations for the following days ahead. She was also very professional! Staff are on hand to provide care for our fur babies, 24/7, the way it should be! I was called both mornings and evenings with a progress report and twice after returning home. The entire team from receptionists, vet technicians and doctors were so kind and caring. I was also, very pleased with the pricing. They definitely get a 10+. I can not thank them enough for what they have done for my family and our fur baby. The third day home and Bella is back to herself❤️
Finding an informed and affordable vet in the HRM for our piglet Petunia has been quite the challenge in the HRM. So, we made the choice to head to Amherst Veterinary Hospital for our girls spay and we’re so glad we did! Every member of the team we dealt with today were so friendly and knowledgeable, they really made me feel at ease with the procedure and aftercare. Quality of care was definitely not compromised for a pleasantly shocking bill! We will definitely make the trip again when Petunia needs care, thank you Amherst Veterinary Hospital!
