My husband was there for a knee surgery! From the moment we arrived at the front desk to recovery everyone was pleasant and professional! The recovery room nurses were amazing and caring! Thank you for making our experience a pleasant one!

I woke up Saturday morning 2 weeks ago with excruciating pain down my right leg. I had been treating these symptoms with Tylenol and Ibuprofen, but this day the pain did not cease and only grew worse as the day progressed. The pain got so bad that I went to the emergency room at Holy Cross Hospital. The Dr there really tried hard to stop the pain. They tried Morphine and Fentanyl. Neither worked. I have been retired for over ten years from the medical profession. I know a little bit about nerve pain. I was diagnosed with Sciatica with dextroscoliosis of the lumbar spine. Disc osteophytes. Multilevel facet hypertrophy. Foraminal narrowing at L5-S1, followed by L4-5. Endplate and deformities related to Schmoll’s node. Why in heavens name do they think a muscle relaxer will stop nerve pain??!! I had to beg them for some Percocet. They gave 2 pills. That gave me a good night, sleep but by noon the next day, the pain came back with a vengeance. My PCP would not give me anything but a muscle relaxer and a referral to pain management. I have been suffering for 20 days now, and I have to wait another 2 weeks to see a pain manager!?! What in the world has happened to the medical profession in this country?? I went to the ER to relieve my pain but they would not give me what I know that I needed!?! I live 30 miles from Holy Cross Hospital. I called the ER and tried to explain to them that I had been seen there already, I have had all of the pertinent test for a diagnosis, and they gave me a muscle relaxer. I tried to explain through my pain and asked the girl who answered the phone on Saturday morning, March 29, @ 9:30 am, if she could assure me that they would give me something that worked before I drove all the way to Taos, and she hung up on me. I do not know who she was but if she cannot handle the public over the phone then she needs to be terminated!! Our medical system is in a sorry state of affairs when a person can no longer get or have to wait weeks to get what is required for pain!!

The team at Holy Cross is amazing! I went for bicep/shoulder surgery three weeks ago and again for a procedure yesterday. Both times I was treated with the best care. Combining both visits, a shout out to: Aimee, Sophia, Shonda, Stephanie, Corey, Barbie, Brad and Meredith. Also, the manager yesterday (sorry I forgot your name!) who was very helpful with information. Also, the staff that registered me each time at the door and took my covid tests. From beginning to end everyone involved was kind, professional and caring. I live in Santa Fe, but would drive the 90 minutes anytime to be cared for so well. Thank you Holy Cross Taos! And thank you Dr. Guttmann for your brilliance and help!
