Dr. Thal saved my horse Gunner. Gunner broke a molar several years ago and I failed to get care for it based on some bad advice. Gunner stopped eating on December 5th this past year and then had two bouts of colic, because he had stopped drinking water. I called Thal Equine after making another mistake in Gunner’s care. I was told to get Gunner to them as soon as possible. When we arrived he and his team made us feel welcome. They examined Gunner. He was a very sick horse. Dr. Thal is widely known for his success as a colic surgeon. So when my mare was experiencing acute colic symptoms, she was rushed to his clinic. She was quickly diagnosed with a colon displacement; her colon was pushed up her left side and caught on a ligament and her spleen! It is a fluke condition with a surgical solution.
My mare was prepared for surgery.
But Dr. Thal explained that sometimes an non surgical technique of rolling the horse over and manipulating the colon from the outside can resolve the issue. He offered to try that first!!

After having my first experience with Thal Equine clinic, including Dr. Thal and his wonderful staff, I had to add my own rave review to the many that already exist here. My mare Cheyenne had recently developed highly concerning acute suspected dental issues that had been overlooked by other vets and I was desperate to find answers. Dr. Thal not only fit us into his extremely busy schedule with very short notice, but performed thorough diagnostics that gave us a clear path forward and brought my horse (and me) immediate relief.
