As a former nurse, I can truly say that my husband and I got excellent care at Esperanza Medical and Wellness! Dr. Sheppard and the whole staff are great and caring people! I was, discharged from their care on Monday and will truly miss all of them! Because there was enough money available through the insurance, I was able to receive Cortisone injections in my neck and back, and this was followed by stem cell injections to both areas. Stem Cells are miraculous! Within a week, I could bend over with very little pain and I could move my neck, too! I still am having headaches and light sensitivity from my concussion, but I know that this too will go away with time. I would like to address Yolanda M.'s complaint about Art De La Torre. Art is a businessman just like the CEO's of hospitals - they to have no medical training and are businessmen. This is why Art and CEO's have medical advisers. The sole purpose of any director or CEO is to filter as much medically necessary monies through their facility. These charges stem from necessary medical treatments and careful medical documentation. No director or CEO has any control over the disbursement of any insurance monies to their patients - this is only done directly from the insurance company which takes out the cost medical reimbursements for the patient( you usually are offered less settlement money this way) or to the attorney who takes out medical reimbursement payments and her/his fees and taxes. As far as attorney's go, the main attorney that Art works with practices in El Paso, Texas and Las Cruces, New Mexico and he has a 5-star rating from his clients. He has a great staff, too! Remember, you are in charge! You are in control! If you don't like something - speak up! Check out any attorney that you may want to hire and read the client reviews. Most attorneys are more like a prickly pear than a cuddle bear, so be prepared, but these are the good ones! Finally, New Mexico only requires $25,000.00 worth of car insurance! That doesn't go very far if you are injured or you injure someone! A medical helicopter ride from here to El Paso, Texas will quickly eat this amount of money up and then some! Dr. Sheppard and the rest of the staff took great care of me after I had a minor car accident. I experienced some neck and shoulder pain and I was able to get in quickly to see the doctor. They took care of all the paperwork and emphasized that my care was the most important. In the end, their treatment plan was spot-on and I didn't have any out-of-pocket expenses. I'd highly recommend the professional and caring staff at Esperanza.
