As a woman will sole decision-making power on this project, I actually had a difficult time finding a contractor who was comfortable with that dynamic (one contractor I interviewed refused to furnish an estimate until he spoke with my husband, another kept telling me I "wouldn't understand" when I asked follow up questions about his recommendations). John, on the other hand, was courteous and eager to work with my specifications from the beginning.
