I used John Hilcher based on a friend’s recommendation. However I found that he does not stand by his work. When NJ state audited my tax returns that he was paid to file, he insisted on being paid on a retainer with a substantial hourly rate for a tax return to fix his mistakes. In the end he did not file the taxes correctly which cost me hundreds of dollars more in taxes with penalties and loss time. Stay away! Use someone else who will filed correctly the first time or stand by you after you have paid for the work without having a retainer and charging more to defend you in an audit.

I hired John based on a very trusted recommendation that he understood international tax law and could efficiently work with me to file both my personal and business US returns.On handling both years 2017 and 2018, John not only made major error, he also had me electronically sign my return, which was then sent back to me- both times, as they do not accept electronic signatures- something very basic you would think your tax accountant should know.He frequently disappeared, wouldn’t respond to emails/calls, lost files and ultimately filed my 2018 return more than 6 months after I had asked, specifically b.c I was expecting my 1st child.In the end, I was fined major penalties...read full review
