I recently purchased Jazz shoes for my six year old son for Theater Camp. The SMAPA Dance Store was the closet store next to driving to the City to purchase dance shoes on a Sunday at that.Briana was so kind and wonderful on the phone. I called on a Sunday and she pulled the potential sizes ahead of time. Originally, I was not going to bring my son. Briana encouraged me to bring him in order to have him try them on in person. I am so glad I listened! My ETA was 12:01pm and the store was due to close at noon. Briana said no worries, she would stay in order for me to try the shoes on. WOW! By the time we found parking it was 12:05pm ( we scored a great spot a block away)...read full review

I take adult ballet beginner with Adrienne Armstrong on Tuesdays and I love every minute of this class. She is a wonderful instructor - very patient and always makes sure we learn something new in a fun welcoming environment.Diana

Sharron Miller's Academy for the Performing Arts (SMAPA) is a nonprofit arts education organization in Montclair, NJ whose mission is to provide inclusive, developmental training in dance and theater arts for students of all ages, races, and genders. We offer ballet, jazz dance, hip hop, modern dance, contemporary choreography, tap, Afro-Haitian dance, musical theater, floor barre, senior exercise, and yoga. We also offer summer arts programs and camps for preschool and elementary school children, and summer dance intensives for pre-professional teen dancers. Scholarships are available and SMAPA accepts all dancers regardless of their ability to pay. Our outreach programs provide free dance classes to students in underserved communities.
