Leaving one star because I cannot leave 0. I have never been so disrespected in a doctor's office. I am a third year medical student myself so I have some medical knowledge but the way the front desk staff at this practice treated me was simply appalling. As soon as I arrived for my appointment they asked me to pay $150 when I had follow up questions. Staff that was listening nearby, who were not in the initial conversation joined it to make passive rude comments. They said I should "ask the doctor" but they were demanding the money right then and there. I have had multiple poor experiences at this practice. Get ophthalmic care literally anywhere else. It'll be so much better. Everyone at this practice is rude and callous.
I went for an appointment because I had a stye. Dr. Putnam walked in and told me it's a standard stye and only time will heal it. Nothing wrong with that. Nice pleasant Doctor who I know is very competent. He was in and out in less than 4 minutes. Here's my issue and you may not find my complaint worthy but it is to me. I paid a $50 copay and weeks later I get a invoice for $18.70. Not much. But I'm thinking that $68.78 is a bit much for FOUR minutes, of which less than 30 seconds (if that) was for Dr Putnam to look at my stye. I called to ask if they waive the $18.70 but the person refused. Here is it 30 days and I get a demand account letter saying this is going to collection if I don't pay within seven days. I am lucky, I can afford the $18.70 which I just paid (ok I paid $18.69 just to screw up the A/P system). But many can't and to have this inflexibility is just bad business and pretty cruel. I like Dr. Putnam, but there are other practices who I will be visiting in the future.
I was very unhappy with the prescription written. Had 2 pairs of lenses made ( one was sunglasses) both wrong due to error in prescription. Made me pay $55 to get re examined because it was over their allowed time period. No apology from the Doctor and of course no admission of an error. Claimed my eyes changed. I'll never go back.
