I had to give a rating of one star in order to be able to post this review, but, believe me, I did not even want to give one star because of my terrible experience with Diana at Joe's Barber Shop. I am writing this bad, bad, bad review about Diana, to let everyone who is reading my review here; know all about Diana and steer clear of her, because I would not want anyone who may even be thinking about booking an appointment with this awful woman for any type of service at this Barber Shop, to have to deal with her; go through with her what I just went through when I stopped over to Joe's Barber Shop on the fly, one afternoon in mid July for a quick trim with Diana; horrible experience. This woman is the worst; totally rude, nasty, arrogant, dishonest; someone who should never, ever be dealing with the public, let alone cutting hair or providing any kind of service at a reputable Barber Shop. When I originally spoke with Diana a few months ago about cutting my short, curly hair, after receiving a good recommendation about her, from a gentleman whom I trust, she gave me a price of around $20.00., But, everything (and I mean everything) changed when I went back to the Barber Shop in mid July, because when I knocked on the locked, front door and when Diana opened the door, I saw immediately that she was annoyed. I saw right away that she had an angry scowl on her face,, but instead of leaving right away, which I should have done, and because I really wanted her to trim my hair, I asked her whether she had a few moments to give me a quick trim. But, instead of answering my question in a cordial, polite, professional way, she right away said to me, in a very nasty and mean voice, "no, I cannot cut your hair today. I am leaving right now. Oh, and, my price for a cut is $30.00 now, because my rent went up",. Obviously, I was taken aback and quite surprised by how she was acting towards me, but rather than try to reason or argue with her; not start any confrontation with her about the unprofessional way in which she was treating me, l just looked at this woman, said, never mind"; turned my back on her and walked away. I know for sure that I made the right and best decision never to bother with Diana ever again; never go back to Joe's Barber Shop, because on that very afternoon, I found a very cool Barber Shop nearby to my house in Jersey City Heights, with a very cool, hip, young guy, who gave me a super great cut for half the price of what Diana wanted to charge me. Wow, wow and wow!!! I do not recommend for anyone who is reading my review here to even think about bothering with Diana for any haircut or any other type of service which she provides at Joe's Barber Shop!!! Buyer Beware!!! Stay away!!!
This place has changed a lot. Unfortunately for the worst. Nothing welcoming, the windows are all obscured giving the impression the place is closed, all by design it seems. Place was empty. When I walked in I was told to stay back because I didn't have Mask and that only appointments were being seen. And only if masked. Really? How do you go about trimming facial hair with a mask on?
A nice little quiet corner barber shop. They close before 5 on weekdays and are closed on Sundays. It's been in business for quite a while so they know what they're doing.Do yourself, and them, a favor. Bring cash and bills less than $50 denomination. They don't like taking them so your first visit may be a little awkward if you aren't prepared. That said I like them and take my family there for a quick hair cut.
