The 1.5 star rating is there for a reason. The care was good. However the billing department is a mess. We have insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. They billed it to the wrong Blue Cross. They refused to fix it. Even got Blue Cross to do a three way call to fix it. Hackensack hung up. This has been an ongoing issue for months. Impossible to speak with anyone. And they are rude and unprofessional. Avoid if you don't want to get billed incorrectly and spend months getting it sorted (if you ever do).

@HMH - Family Medicine - 65 James Street, Edison (Hackensack Meridian Health Family Medicine) I was seen for a physical by NICHOLAS CELIKBAS, when he was still a resident. A Truly awful experience. This now Doctor is not qualified. His bed side manners were awful. His diagnosis ability was awful. His communications with the patient also awful. The office experience was awful. The care quality was awful. Let's put it this way they do not graduate them like they used to. My advice is stay away.

In August 2023, 8mm stone in left ureter. When I had emergency visit in JFK (Edison, NJ) Hospital, they did not give me any pain killer medication since 5 hours even if my pain was 10 out of 10. I was kept lying for 5 hours without any treatment or medication even though I begged for so many times to call a doctor urgently. On 9/22/2023 - Urology doctor in JFK performed ureteroscopy (laser treatment). Doctor removed 80% of stone but safety guided wire was broken inside my body. Stone sample was never sent to lab for analysis. I asked about stone report multiple times but JFK hospital had no answer. On 9/23/2023 - Radiology intervention doctor in JFK performed surgery from back of kidney and removed wire and placed the nephrostomy tube, stent and nephrostomy bag inside through outside of my body. On 9/24/2023 - I was discharged with nephrostomy tube, stent and nephrostomy bag On 9/27/2023 - Urologist removed nephrostomy bag and clamped the tube from back side of my body. On 10/23/2023 - Radiology intervention in JFK performed Nephrostogram, removed tube and placed another stent in ureter as narrowing observed in ureter. I requested to have Urology doctor to be present during this procedure but nobody in JFK accepted my request. Procedure was extremely painful. I was in sever pain on the OT bed and nurse could not give me pain killer since they have not prepared me for IV and it was too late. There was NO precaution taken before this procedure to make sure there won't be any infection due to this procedure. Because of this, I was admitted to the emergency in JFK just right after my procedure because of infection and chest pain. On 10/24/2023 - Urinary infection treatment started in JFK with higher dosage of antibiotics. Urine culture was positive while blood culture was negative. On 10/26/2023 - JFK hospital staff were planning to discharge me with PICC line IV at home so I can continue rest of antibiotics through IV by myself at home but I opposed this since I was so much scared of having another foreign object inside my body. After so much discussion, they agreed to keep me in hospital for 2 more days until I am stable to go home with oral medications. On 10/28/2023 - JFK discharged me with oral antibiotics On 2/11/2023 - I visited another hospital in New York as I was so much scared about JFK treatments. On 15/11/2023 - Doctor in New York hospital treated me well and they did another surgical procedure to wider my ureter with all precautions. I was discharged on the same day with stent in ureter but without any infection. During this procedure, doctor found that piece of stone is still there in ureter and he removed it safely. On 7/12/2023 - Doctor in New York hospital removed stent safely and I was discharged. I still have back pain due to so many surgical procedures. I still have pain when I urinate. I have a black spots (which were not there before) on my back due to this surgery. And I still need to follow up with doctor for ultrasound in few months. There are multiple places (below mentioned) where JFK hospital failed to provide me correct and careful treatment and I had to suffer a lot (physically, professionally, mentally, emotionally) due to this. Broken wire left inside my body, New York doctor found that stone was not removed 100%, Urology doctor was not present during Nephrostogram even if requested, Precaution was not taken before Nephrostogram which caused heavier infection, proper pain medication was not given during painful Nephrostogram procedure caused chest pain and admitted to emergency right after procedure. When I escalated to JFK management, they don't have anything to offer to me apart from saying "sorry".
