I've been having my hair "styled" for many years now. I have used the same person for about the last 10 years or so and was always happy with the job he did on my hair. But I was traveling from Brick to Belmar for every cut. Now I don't mind driving a little to get something that I'm going to be happy with, but I figured there has to be someone more local that can do a good job. So I decided I was going to try to find a local barber shop as opposed to a "salon" and see how it goes. I figured, what's the worse that could happen, a bad haircut? It'll grow back. So I began researching barbers locally using mostly Yelp. I saw Billy G's Cutting Den and read all the reviews and decided that's where I was going to go. I made an appointment with Billy for the next day. The moment I entered the shop I was greeted by Billy's wife Shannon who was very friendly and made me comfortable and feel like I'd been a client for years. I gave her my name and a minute later Billy came out of the back and said "c'mon in" I introduced myself, we shook hands, I sat in the chair and that's when his expertise began. He asked me how I wanted it cut and I said I wasn't sure so we discussed it and I asked for his professional opinion. He gave me his thoughts and I said, "sounds good, let's do it" Then this Master Barber commenced on what became the best haircut experience I ever had. All through the process Billy would pause and ask if what he was doing was ok, or did I want it a little shorter or did I want some bulk taken out. He took his time and made it his business to guarantee that I got what I wanted and that I was going to be happy when he was finished. He was successful on all counts! I walked out of there with a great haircut. Needless to say I will be going back and will recommend his shop whenever I can. On a final note, I have to say that while he was cutting we had a great conversation and many laughs. Billy is a very cordial guy and just like his wife Shannon, i was made to feel very comfortable as though I had been going there for many years. This place is truly a rare find!
