When I first saw his artwork, it instantly captured my love, creativity, vision, and imagination. I planned my wedding around that vision, and having it at Woodstone was a decision made solely based on the life he created at the waterfall.
Initially, I reached out to inquire about his packages, as getting married can be overwhelming. He made it easy for me to work within my means while still ensuring the quality of work he provides. It took me a year to get back to him so that we could work towards our goals of a beautiful wedding. He was the only photographer for me, and while I saw many beautiful artwork and pictures from weddings, John had something truly special.
He went above and beyond the day of to capture everything that mattered to me, even within the dramatic list of ideas, people, and moments I had given him to capture. The only regret I have is that in trying to keep control of the budget, I didn’t opt for the higher packages because they are worth every dollar. If you’re worried about budget, I would say maybe go for less detailed table or DJ and put it towards capturing this moment of time with the people you love, because as we all know they are worth more than any amount of money and far more important than a specific detail in the wedding.
I’ve received so many compliments that his photos of our wedding should be featured in GQ, The New Yorker, and even on the cover of a romance novel.
Since my husband and I had already done an engagement shoot, some of his price packages included an additional shoot prior to the wedding. I decided to go for the boudoir shoot, a special gift I could give my husband and even myself on the day of our wedding. We work so hard financially, physically, and artistically to create every detail of our special day and be the best versions of ourselves it’s important to cherish ourselves in that way. If you can work out the schedule, I definitely recommend optimizing your hair and makeup previews, as I did, by doing the shoot after getting all glammed up. Not only do we get a real preview of deciding our look for the day in film but then we get a special bonus of looking our best for two shoots. Another added bonus of the extra time is it gives us, John and myself the time to get to know each other’s styles and preferences, while also creating photos I will cherish for the rest of my life.
I’m not easily the kind of person who can relinquish control, but John’s ability to make me feel comfortable and confident allowed me to let go and enjoy the experience.
But not only did he make me feel comfortable, I could see his creativity, vision and imagination within the lighting. Those images were as much art as they could be posted on our wall. Not too risqué. Every bit of it was artwork of feminine beauty, energy, and romance. After the shoot, he took the time to have me go through each photo and describe what I liked and didn’t like.
With that extra time, I was 100% at peace on the day of my wedding. I trusted him completely. I was able to be myself and know that my pictures would be as I hoped they would be when they turned out.
Now, I spend a lot of time researching all the different options for photographers. I was stunned to find out that even some photographers who had packages well above the $20,000 weren’t the same caliber of work. Supposedly to be the cultural center of the universe, generally I felt that they just costed more because of their geographic placement to the Metropolis of New York City Life.
John is a local hidden gem, far higher caliber of artwork than they all were. I would say book him for your special day before the word is completely out.“
