About Allendale Veterinary Hospital: Sevalla Kathy DVM
Allendale Veterinary Hospital is a fear-free facility known for its exceptional patience and compassionate care. The staff and veterinarians consistently take their time with every animal, handling them with love and care, whether for a routine wellness visit or a more complex exam. They are praised for sitting on the floor with nervous pets, allowing them to become comfortable, and avoiding rushed or forceful procedures. The approach is tailored to each pet's needs, including prescribing calming medication beforehand when necessary. The practice is highlighted for its thorough communication, with doctors answering every question and going above and beyond, such as consulting specialists. They provide clear options and upfront pricing without forcing tests or medications. For difficult situations, including behavioral euthanasia, the entire staff offers outstanding support, compassion, and professionalism, making painful experiences easier to manage. Follow-up care, such as checking on a pet's well-being the next day, is standard. Pet owners feel seriously heard and helped, trusting the hospital for both preventative care and serious health concerns, ultimately finding a vet that gains their animal's trust where others have failed.
Brought our new kitten here for a wellness visit and concern for his eye. They got us in a week sooner than other hospitals. The doctor handled my kitten with so much love and care. She answered all our questions and went above and beyond to even contact a ophthalmologist regarding our kitties eye! Thanks for becoming Gunners new vet!
The way they approached my 120 pound dog that was new to them, said EVERYTHING to me. My previous vet always approaches my dog quickly and hastily (to check his ears etc) and created such fear in my dog. They always try to muzzle him just because of his size and spook him - any time he had an ear issue they'd just prescribe a random medication to see if it worked because they didn't want to take the time to check his ears. After 4 years, they NEVER gained his trust. The tech and vet at Allendale sat on the floor with my dog, pet him, and took their time. They answered EVERY single one of my questions and didn't rush out the door like other vets do. My dog sat through the entire exam, let them check his ears etc without becoming stressed. They did not force a single test, medication, or procedure on me but instead, let me know my options and priced everything out. I ended up opting for a couple of tests over things I was concerned about that my previous vet never offered and to be quite frank, really brushed off. They took my dog (who is reactive to other dogs) into the back and I was concerned. I learned they are a fear free facility - they take their time and don't wrestle and rush your dog to get stuff done. My dog was out in 3 minutes or less, no bandages, no struggle. There were no surprise fees or costs and they followed up the following day to see how he was feeling. Like every pet owner, I want the absolute best for my dog. I want him to live a long happy healthy life and I finally feel like a vet took me seriously and was there to HELP. Go here.
We have a very fearful Great Pyrenees rescue mix. We have been unable to get her to a vet for over a year. They prescribed meds to calm her down before she went to vet. They told us in advance if they would not be able to examine her they would have to sedate her. They had to sedate her and did a complete exam and necessary vaccines. We had to return yesterday for her last vaccine. Our dog, Grace wanted no part of it. With much patience and cooperation of her staff, they were able to give Grace her vaccine without sedation. The doctor was very kind and we did not feel rushed. We were very happy with Allendale Veterinary Hospital.
