Poorly trained staff. Overworked, overbooked, & incompetent. They want your money, they don't care about anything else.Horrible bait and switch pricing. Told them I wanted a contact lens eye exam. Was told I had a $40 copay. While I was at the desk, with dilated eyes, before I even had a trial pair of contacts, they told me my bill (not including any contact lens purchase) was $395, due at that moment. After I explained what I felt was going on, I had to pay $124. They either do not know, or do not care to explain your vision benefits. They will NOT tell you your contact lens eye exam is ONLY covered IF you buy your contacts THRU them.AVOID AT ALL COSTS. There is a reason they are no longer Lens Doctors. (They just don't bother taking the signs down that say Lens Doctor)When I complained, I received an email from a 3rd party subcontractor named Capital Vision Services. In Virginia. That representative cannot even pronounce 'diabetic retinopathy'. English is not that rep's first language.
I went back after three years. Although everyone was great last time and this time I was once again blindsided by there charges. I asked when I got there if my copay was all I needed to pay and was told yes. I didn't get glasses the last time because they were going to be $350. This time I picked out frames that would have cost $171. When they added in the lenses it came out to $711. The last time I got glasses two years ago at another eye doctor's practice I had to pay my deductible ($30) and the frames and lenses were covered by insurance. The manager said they could offer an additional discount on the frames but I told her there was no way I was paying $500 for lenses. The eye doctor (Oleksiv) is awesome. She checked on a spot that showed up last time. That got billed under some medical charge. Everything I have ever had charged to me has been covered by my insurance except at this place. They won't bill you. You have to pay on the day of the visit. I had to pay $298.96 and walked out with nothing. The people are very nice. Dr. Oleksiv is the best. This place will rip you off.
My whole family has been going to Lens DR. for years and have always been treated excellent. Now that they have merged with My Eye Dr. customer service is not the same. My son's glasses broke that we just got 2 months ago, so I went in to get a new pair. Unfortunately, they were not covered under insurance. The nice lady could not find me in the system she eventually called the manager "Justin" who should not be in customer service. He found me in the system and informed me that I had no insurance. I said I will buy the glasses. I asked if since this is the second pair that have broken, could I get a discount he quickly replied, "glasses don't break themselves!" There is not discount available. I am in the customer service industry and was shocked that he spoke to me like that. I guess respect is not in his forte.
