“So, my wife and I get back home after going apple picking, and are having a nice afternoon when I heard this strange clicking noise coming from the furnace. And then, BOOM! Something lets go, there's the sound of rushing water, and the whole downstairs fills up with steam. It was so thick I couldn't even see a foot in front of me in the basement as my plumber, Darren Powers, talked me through on the phone how to shut the furnace down, and which valve to turn to get the water to stop. Man! What a mess.... Darren was such a help to me. Though he had been up since early that morning working a job when I reached him at around 7:00 pm, he came over as soon as he could around 9:00 pm and worked on stabilizing things until about 10:30 pm so nothing else would happen. Because it was Saturday, he wasn't able to come back until Monday after gathering all the parts and equipment needed to fix the furnace and burst pipe line. I've known Darren for years, and he's helped me on many occasions. Each time, he came as soon as he could, did great work, and cleaned up the resulting mess after. I've trusted him numerous times to come in to do his work even when I wasn't home. And he's always been more than fair with not only his prices, but also his time. It doesn't get any better than that. Thanks, Darren. You're not only a great vendor, but I'm glad to have you as a friend.“

“I first called Charlie Doke about 20 years ago, after having a horrible experience with another furnace guy. At the time, I was living with my 80-year old aunt and neither of us knew a thing about furnaces. I had to call a repairman one night, who charged me over $300 for what he called parts & labor. Turns out the furnace broke down the very next night, and when I tried to call him back he wouldn't come back. It was February, and bitter cold. I couldn't let my aunt freeze, so I called my fuel supplier (who had recommended the first guy) to tell him how I'd been treated. He immediately gave me Charlie's number and told me to call him, even though it was about 11:00 at night. Charlie came right over and basically told me I'd been "took". I told him flat out I knew nothing about furnaces, and he treated me right, was very honest right from the get-go, fixed my furnace for about $40 and I never had any trouble with it after that. From then on, he was my go-to furnace repair & maintenance guy, and I've highly recommended him to several friends and colleagues. Sadly, Charlie passed away recently but his son has been servicing my furnace for several years now and I trust him as much as I trusted Charlie.
