Be Healthy with Ana Pilates

“What an amazing experience working with Ana! She has a wonderful bedside manner, clear and compassionate advice, and is incredibly empowering. I wasn’t sure what to expect but she made me feel right at home. Loved the physical instruction and mindset work that we covered. I’d highly recommend her.“

Life Time Pilates

“⭐⭐⭐☆☆
Love the club, not the cost.

I've been working out at various gyms, aquatic centers, and the YMCA for years. While they all have great equipment for solo workouts, I needed something more to push past my plateau. Life Time's early morning (5:45 am) weight-lifting classes, led by Vickie and Stacey, and Lakshmi's Ashtanga yoga sessions have been fantastic for this. Their curated playlists are a nice touch too. ???

However, after being laid off, I tried to switch to a single adult membership since my family primarily uses another gym. I was disappointed to find that the Waverly location is now "signature only," meaning the cost for just myself would be nearly the same as my OG two-adult membership at $260/month. This is frustrating as I haven't used a single signature feature in my five years at LT.

I realize there is maintenance and upkeep costs, but there should be a tiered approach to the pricing. I don't need any tennis, pickleball or basketball courts; no personal trainers; or the pool for that matter. I just want to lift, shred, sweat and stretch early in the morning.

While the Waverly Life Time club is a great place to work out, without an employer discount, it costs nearly 10× more than a standard big-box gym with similar equipment. The sauna and steam room are nice but comparable to those at the YMCA or MAC. I will say the child care program is by far the best of any gym I've been to. But once the kids hit 10-12 yo they complain about boredom unless they had basketball or free gym on the gymnastics equipment.

Overall, I enjoy Life Time, but the exuberant monthly expense is pushing me towards a more economical option.

Love the gym, hate the cost.“
