We have hired MD Handyman multiple times and are always satisfied with the cost / value proposition and outcome. The first job they did for us was remove an old sliding glass door and install a new one. This job was much more involved than I expected (I know because I watched them do it!) but they worked steadily and diligently to get the job done. The framing wasn't an exact fit but they did their best to make adjustments for the previous molding to match the newly installed door. They went above and beyond the quoted job to address any concerns I had (including some that were me not communicating my wants adequately) and never up-charged without consent and a clear explanation. Based on our experience with the door installation, we hired them for a round of additional jobs several months later that included: - power washing the exterior of our house - cleaned our gutters - correcting the installation of a roof exhaust vent (initially installed by someone else) - repairing / replacing various bits of rotten wood / woodpecker damaged wood on the exterior of our home - repairing / replacing various deck boards - re-painting our deck - address concerns of leaking pipes in a guest room over our garage - fixing a broken exterior light fixture - fixing a broken interior light fixture - fixing various bits of molding around our garage door - patching various holes / cracks in our driveway / exterior area around where we have a lot of water drainage, pursuant to supporting said drainage - having a load of junk hauled away - having some toppers installed on some hand-rails on our back deck - repairing / repainting all of the wooden shutters on our house (I think they did 20 of them) While we had to work to understand each other, they had an employee who was fluent in English to help translate whenever the discussion required it. We exchanged lots of photos (I probably sent 27, the more the better to help them understand the requests) before meeting in person to confirm the work list and an initial estimate. We also extensively e-mailed throughout the course of the job. I get a little wordy (can you tell?) but they were always patient and polite with me. On our first job we provided the materials, on this job they sourced the materials. There were additional (expected, no surprises) costs for the materials. They did a great job sourcing materials including having paint mixed to match as best the store could. For some of the job (such as the concerns of leaking pipes) they actually talked me down from having extensive work done (the problem was not as bad as I thought). They could have just done what I asked and charged more but instead they essentially talked themselves out of work, which really underlines how honest they feel. We are really satisfied with all the work they've done and will continue to use them. I think it is possible to find a service with more exacting standards, and I'm sure that service charges top-dollar as well. MD Handyman strikes the right balance between cost and quality to continue getting all of our home-repair work for the foreseeable future.
