This by far was my favorite stop in Mt. Airy. The photos on the wall from throughout the years says a lot. Getting to see the antique barber chairs was amazing and meeting Floyd's grandson. He is an awesome man and educator. My son got one of the best haircuts he's ever gotten at Floyd's. So thankful for visiting and the experience. We also bought some merchandise while here that was very reasonably priced.

The gentleman was sharing his father's legacy as a barber. It was great stop that shared with my friends back in Washington DC. A couple are even looking to make a pilgrimage there.

Experience of a lifetime! Jeff gave me a trim, while Bill (son of the original owner of Floyd's) gave me some insights as to the history of the shop, and how it was the basis of Floyd's Barbershop in the Andy Griffith Show.
When my haircut was done, Bill invited me to set in the barber chair his Dad used to use, which also was the chair Andy got his haircut in in real life.
If you look at the picture of Bills Dad, he looks alot like what Floyd looked like in the tv show!!
Even if you don't need a haircut, stop in and sit a spell.... (tell em Bob from Kansas City says howdy!)
