I feel like they meet an important need, especially for alot of spouses whose partner may be deployed and all their friends have crazy work schedules. Alot of laproscopic procedures or even simple surgeries require general anesthesia and/or the patient cannot drive themself. Their help meant that I did not have to reschedule something that turned out to be pretty serious.“

“My wife and I were unable to provide care ourselves for her beloved elderly cousins (2 sisters) who lived together near our home in Fayetteville. One of the cousins had Parkinson’s and the other had Alzheimer’s, so the daily routine was very challenging and it quickly overwhelmed us as the symptoms progressed. We had some bad experiences with private caregivers before finding the Fayetteville Home Instead team. The entire team was very helpful and guided us through the process of getting set up, and allowed us flexibility in scheduling as we experimented with different levels of care as the diseases progressed over the span of 3 years. Without their compassionate care and attention to detail I’m not sure how we would have navigated those years.

Eventually both cousins passed but with the support of the Home Instead team we were able to keep them at home together to the end, which was their request to us in the years before the diseases progressed. The Home Instead team sent flowers to our family and a couple of their favorite caregivers even came and sang at their funerals.

I now need help with my wife’s dementia care at home, and I will definitely work with the Home Instead team on this difficult transition. I don’t expect it to be easy but my prior experience with Bob, Kathryn, Corrie and the rest of the team made the decision easy about who to call when the time came. I think that is the strongest recommendation I can give their team.“

“The four stars are for Amedisys in the Knoxville, TN area. I used Amedisys in Oak Ridge and Knoxville, TN area off and on almost 15 years, and my parents used them as well. When we found out we were moving to Fayetteville, NC I looked for Amedisys here. The Amedisys Social Worker in TN spoke with the Amedisys Social Worker here in July several times to make the transition easier. Amedisys in Fayetteville called me once before we left TN at end of July 2022, and again the first week of August after we arrived to hopefully start services in the next few weeks. I had one tele-appointment with a NP and a PA (tested positive for. COVID) and both reassured me that Amedisys would begin home health in 1-2 weeks. It's December and we are still waiting. We called a few times in August but they stopped taking our calls. If we left messages, our calls were not returned. I called a few private companies but they want clients who pay for their services, not Medicare. They wanted a minimum of $1000/month, which I cannot do. I am 69 with mobility issues. I don't need someone to sit with me all day. I need 2-3 baths per week, sheets changed and hair washed once a week, floors swept twice a week, and mopped once a week. I'd like to have an RN with psychology training every week to start then every 2 weeks, one with psychiatric training if possible. I need PT and OT twice a week if possible. If Amedisys cannot provide these services please let me or my daughter know. If you can refer us to another provider, please contact me or my daughter.
