*** Update: I posted a great review 11 months ago as I never had a problem. Today was the first time in 9 years I’ve had an issue. I’ve never missed or cancelled an appointment from my end. There have been multiple times they’ve cancelled due to illness or vacations and I’ve always been super understanding. Today my car wouldn’t start and I couldn’t make my appointment. They charged me for the full appointment, which is outlined in the contract. I’ve been a loyal member with zero issues for 9 years and there was no one time pass and the person I spoke with was rude. I didn’t feel like a valued member and I hate that people and companies treat folks like...read full review

They've gone up on membership but still a good value. However the facility at South point has taken to charging a $15 if they are not your home locat it's just not worth the extra fee.

I have been a member for years. My original membership was at the Burlington, NC location because I was working there at the time. I accumulated a lot of credits during the pandemic as many did. Last year I started to schedule appointments. The drive to Burlington was very challenging from Chapel Hill so I started making appointment at this Durham location. I wanted to schedule massages but these were booked. I started scheduling facials and microderms. I had a great esthetician, Latesha. Very professional and courteous. I finally was able to get appointment for a massage back in November 2022 but the office called me saying they did not have a technician and I was cancelled a week before. Today I went in for a facial. I received a call from the office stating that Latesha had an emergency. They offered Angie. She was very nice and fairly new to the organization. The front dest staff approached me right before my facial and advised me that the office was going to begin to charge an extra $15 to members that are not originally from that location. Since I signed up in Burlington, this new rule would apply to me. They told me that "outside members were taking up the spots of their regular members". They also made sure to tell me that the office does not get the same amount of money for outside members. I really did not appreciate all this information - seems like they are airing their dirty laundry. When I signed up years ago, they sold me on the fact that I could visit any location in the country. Now I am not welcomed in the Durham office...and I was told that the $15 extra fee was to deter me or others not originally from Durham to not come back. Really?, TMI. I work long days. My window to have any pampering done for myself is very short. As a Nurse Practitioner, my days begin very early and I am barely getting out of my clinic by 5:30 pm. I just wanted to get there and relax for 1 hour. Instead this is how I was greeted. I personally think that every Massage Envy is having problems getting and keeping technicians and this is why everyone has trouble getting appointments. I really liked going to the Durham location as it was a 15 min drive from my clinic in Chapel Hill. To charge me an extra $15 because I happened to sign up at another location is no different than you going to an Urgent Care that is not in your neighborhood because the one closest to you is overbooked. When you arrive at the urgent care they tell you they have to charge you $50 more because you are not assigned that urgent care. This is ridiculous and discrimination.
