“I have used Upright Athlete both for physical therapy and for strengths training. I seriously broke my right ankle (pilon fracture) in April 2023, had surgery, was non-weight bearing in a wheelchair for three months. And I started physical therapy with Gabe Dimock in July 2023. He has been amazing -- thoughtful, supportive, kind, encouraging, and flexible and always took time to answer questions. Ten months later (!!) after physical therapy for twice a week, I finally graduated over to the other side of the gym and have been doing strengths training with Gabe since May 2024. Am very grateful to be back to walking, hiking and building back my strength and stamina and I am so glad I chose to work with Upright Athlete. Highly, highly recommend them!“

“Mark Li did my reflexology deep tissue massage and Lucy did my husband's deep tissue massage. Both were excellent and highly professional! I say this as a licensed massage and bodywork therapist with a healthcare professional background myself.
The office is located in a strip mall but the inside environment was much more aesthetic than the outside. There was no intake interview to ask about problem areas or health history, however Mark Li was very skilled at finding adhesions and sore areas on his own. What stood out to me most about this massage was that my entire nervous system felt calmed, so much so that I fell asleep during and went back to my airbnb to take a nap afterwards. My face and legs felt like jello ?
I would not call what I got deep tissue more like a firm medium pressure, however I don't think deeper pressure was needed as he broke up knots without it. I am not a fan of the pay structure (extra fees for using different tools or modalities and extra fees for deeper pressure) but that being said even after the extra fees, the price was reasonable for the Durham area.

Jen at the front desk is a gem and "gets" what it means to be customer-centered. When a mix up occurred with my account, she took down all my information and asked me what I wanted as a solution. She cared! Joanna, the new owner dedicated herself to solving my account issue. She could have made it seem like my fault, but like Jen, she listened closely, also asked what solution I was seeking, and then set out to make that happen. I have been a Wellville client almost from its beginning. I appreciate using their services and highly recommend Wellville.“
