In 2015, we adopted a Dachshund, Darla, from Furever Friends and their partner, Capeside. Darla required surgery and Dr. Sheila Hanby aptly treated her then and through the years and helped Darla live to age 18. We were forced to put her down in March, 2023 when she could no longer walk. For the preceding year, Drs. Hanby and Jeff Phillips kept the sweet girl functioning and as much out of pain as we could. Darla's passing was devastating to us. Imagine how we felt two months ago to get an unexpected call from Dr. Hanby and Sharon Smith with Furever Friends to say they had a ten year old Dachshund named Penny whose owner had just passed. Dr. Hanby and Sharon Smith knew how much we loved and cared for Darla and both immediately thought Penny would be ideal for us. We rushed in to meet her and she greeted us with wagging tail and kisses. It was instant, mutual love. Capeside and Furever Friends are extraordinarily caring and wonderful organizations, We love them both.
I can't say enough good things about Capeside Animal Hospital and especially Alicia Lynn. She was very thorough, patient and knowledgeable in answering questions about my dog, a procedure and why certain shots were needed. You can tell she really cares and I have been very impressed with her professionalism as well as her caring attitude. My husband has been taking our dog into the office for visits and has also commented on how well run and friendly the staff is. It is very important to us to have a top notch vet as our dogs are part of our family and their health is a priority, it's great to know we have a partner in caring for them.
My dog came down with what we thought was a UTI. Our vet put her on antibiotics. A month later we still had the same issues. I took in a positive test strip for UTI and blood. I was ask how I got this test strip and I need more time for the antibiotics to work. I asked for xrays. They took her back and said they did not see anything. I called Bull Shit on that doc and took her to Capeside. We met with Dr Phillips, he did a complete work up. He was extremely helpful, his only goal is the wellness of your pet. My girl is now being treated for cancer. If I had listened to my previous vet my dog would be dead in 4 months. If you want a vet that will only do wellness checks, smile and take your money they are out there. If you want great service, good checkups and testing in Leland, go to Capeside.
