I was recommended Inara’s Alterations by another alterations person that I trust, but who lives too far for me to visit. I’ve taken jeans here for shortening, dresses for the neckline (including my wedding dress), and other articles of clothing over the past 6 months. The work they do is amazing and I’ve had no issues with it at all. I now get all of my clothes altered if they are just slightly off, because I know how much more comfortable they will be with Inara’s work! I would highly recommend to anyone near Asheville. They do high quality work!

I have had Inara work on many different projects for me. She has shortened pants and dresses, taken sleeves off of a dress, and a few other things. Everything is always very well done and beautiful. I highly recommend her work.

Inara has done it again! She has made my perfectly fitting jeans wearable again despite some very large holes. They look amazing!! She has also repaired multiple holes in a very fine knit sporty wool sweater that I would have had to get rid of otherwise. The areas she mended in the sweater are completely unnoticeable.She has hemmed many pairs of pants for me over the years and none of these have had to be re-done due to wear.Thank you!

From Inara's Alterations

We are a locally grown alterations shop of 20+ years. Inara had a vision of turning her love for sewing into an alterations shop. It all started in Black Mountain and now we are in downtown Asheville. After 20 years, Inara retired, and her niece Tatyana took over the business to continue what her aunt started. We provide variety of services from sewing buttons on to complex garment repairs. In addition to clothing repairs, we provide other types of alterations and custom sewing: masks, pillows, blankets, draperies, just to list few. We also have a shoe repair master on staff, who provides excellent work with shoes and other items such as purses, belts, luggage, and other custom requests.
