4915 Poplar Springs Dr, Meridian Mississippi 39305
PET APPROVED!
Poplar Springs may have a higher price point than other vets, but I am telling you all now it is worth it - you and your pets are worth it.
Dr. Carney (or "Chip") is the most down to earth vet I've ever had the privilege of taking my animals too. He's informational, honest, direct, and calm. He has a very nonchalant kind of attitude to him that I absolutely adore (maybe that's just the military grump in me though) and it makes it that much easier to talk to him.
Most importantly though, he is available when our family needs him. We've had emergencies and situations where we were unsure if it required immediate action, and we were able to get in touch with him regardless if it was late at night or a weekend.
Also, the office staff and the vet techs/assistants are so polite and kind and knowledgeable. You really feel so welcomed, like family! Bonus, my dog's love everyone there too.
Bit of a back story (as if this review isn't long enough!) I came to Poplar Springs after having a deadly experience with another vet (who I will not name.) Our previous vet gave my dog medication of which I had made it clear my dog was allergic to, Ivermectin. I didn't realize she had done this until I checked the paperwork later after noticing medical issues with my dog. My dog's health quickly declined, seizures, drooling, disorientation, just awful things. I brought my dog back to that vet every day for three weeks demanding help; I explained she was suffering from Ivermectin toxicity and the disorientation and seizures were making her aggressive (to which she had NEVER been before!) The vet said it wasn't a health issue, it was a behavior issue, and she recommended I put her down because you "can't train that out of her." I was in tears every day trying to get help from this vet, even a referral from her to a specialist. She told me "the cost wouldn't be worth it." I was speechless. Eventually my dog's attacks got so severe she had to be euthanized. I wanted to sue for malpractice but I didn't have the energy. ... All that to say, that previous vets lack of knowledge or care killed my dog. When I found Poplar Springs and brought our other dog in for a first time visit, the front reception asked me if I was interested in flea/heartworm prevention. I made the comment "as long as it's not ivermectin" kind of passively (still upset about my other dog.) The receptionist looked at the sign I was holding and said, "fortunately we would never give that cutie ivermectin, his breed is one that's allergic to it, we've got lots of other options though!" I started crying right there, tears of relief and regret that I hadn't found Poplar Springs Vet sooner. I knew immediately my family was going to be in good hands.
