I have been coming to Awa African Hair Braiding Salon for 8+ years, and I will NEVER, EVER go anywhere else!!! Sissy is the most professional, and experienced braiding stylist in San Diego!!! She cares about her customers, and is dedicated to providing exceptional service. Sissy is very compassionate, and takes the time to ensure an enjoyable customer experience, and did I mention her finished styles are BEAUTIFUL!!! I am associated with the military which is very particular when it comes to women hair styles. Many military women who are seeking braided hairstyles FLOCK to Awa Salon because they know Sissy will do a fantastic job ! As an African American woman when I decided to go natural I was so afraid to wear braids because of the pulling and tightness of the braiding process. Thank the heavenly stars I do not have to worry about that when Sissy braids my hair.....!!! She is very in tune with her customers and their hair care journey! Sissy has been instrumental in my journey towards keeping my hair maintained, while promoting phenomenal growth!!! I have recommended Sissy to many of my friends!! I needed some one to do my own hair in cornrows for my first time. Stopped by this salon to inquire and I'm so happy I did. The Braider did an amazing job on my hair. She was really fast and thorough too. I'm planning on being a regular client. My hair is still looking good and it has been 2 weeks now. Go ahead and give those women a chance. I'm glad I did.

Finding a stylist to braid a youngster's hair can be complicated. I made an appointment the day of because the stylist was a no-show. We were leaving on a trip so I had resolved that I would have to take care of my little one's hair. Curses! So I called AWA and they squeezed us in. We were satisfied with the results because I specifically requested 50 Braids. Here were the advantages: Not too much hair, means, weight was no issue My kiddo had full hair versatility because her hands could wrap the braids in several styles Taking the braids out was only 2 hours or less She had the braids for 9 weeks and they were still decent No knotted length or tangled hair after braids taken out It took 3-4 hours, I think because of the long length I was able to maintain a peaceful relationship with my kiddo and hair because of the few braids, you heard Yes, I would recommend the salon and plan to receive services in the future
