In May 2020 my family adopted a 6 month old rescue red heeler mix. We were told she had a rough start to life and was skittish, but we fell in love when we met her and were up to the challenge. Little did we know it would be a bigger challenge than we thought. A year later and she had warmed up to me and our 2 boys, but hated my husband and all visitors to our house. She wasn't aggressive, but there was constant barking and pacing. Our house was in a state of chaos any time my husband was home or we had guests. Joey was recommended by our vet and after meeting with him he suggested a 2 month board and train. It was an expensive option, but we were desperate and took the risk. To say that it was the best thing we could have done and that Joey changed our lives is an understatement. We got Ginger back in August and it is like living with a different dog. Joey was true to his word when he said she wouldn't come back to us 100% fixed, but that she and we would have the skills, knowledge, and experience to get her to a place where she could be less stressed and live a happier life. We met with Joey for follow ups for a couple months before deciding we were ready to go on on our own, but Joey told us he would remain there for us as a resource and to help with any challenges we came across. We continue to work with Ginger every day reinforcing the things Joey started with her and our house has become so much more calm and quiet. My husband recently had a night home alone and was so proud to text a picture of Ginger laying on the couch with him looking relatively content. My family is so grateful for Joey and everything he has done and would recommend him to anyone needing a trainer for their dog.
Joey is a canine magician! He is *very* knowledgeable, devoted, loves and totally understands dogs, and has the patience of a saint. He has board-and-trained my Akita mix who I adopted at 1 yo and my German Shepherd puppy, and they both were a delight to have in my home and out-and-about after they came home. He has also taught me so much. I’m forever grateful!
The Henson’s can’t say enough good things about Joey and what he does. After rescuing our first dog and quickly realizing we needed help we took Lacey to him. Not only has she grown leaps and bounds but so have we including our 4 year old who will work with Lace on her training also. She is still a puppy and has a lot of learning to do but I am confident Joey will keep her and us on track to be an amazing member of our family.
