About Downtown St. Louis YMCA at the MX
The Downtown St. Louis YMCA at the MX is a modern fitness facility located in the vibrant downtown area. It features well-maintained locker rooms and a functional sauna, making it a pleasant place for workouts. The gym offers a variety of fitness options, including a fitness center and group classes, catering to both energetic individuals and those seeking quieter activities. While the staff is friendly and eager to help, some reviews note the absence of certain equipment, like an incline bench and a fly machine, which may be a drawback for some. The gym is also appreciated for its spacious parking, though parking meters are present. Members enjoy a good atmosphere, enhanced by music selection and gender-specific steam rooms. However, it lacks amenities like a basketball court or running track. Overall, it is a fine choice for those in the downtown area who want a quick workout without the full range of offerings found at other YMCA locations.
Clean and well equipped YMCA right downtown near the convention center. Tons of equipment and love all the Life Fitness and Hammer Strength. Staff was friendly and informative. Bring your own lock if you have a lot of items to store since it’s a slightly smaller facility than some of the bigger ymca locations that are also part of this association
I like the leg press in this place since the range of motion is greater than most 45° leg presses I've used. It's great they have plenty of 2.5 Ib plates since I've run into too many guns where I need to bring my own. I haven't used it, but they have a 12 inch plyo box that I'm familiar with that's great for box squats. For the size it's pretty and has a nice variety of equipment.
This is not the main gym I train at, but it's a good option for those that live downtown that have hybrid/remote work. It's great they have Saturday hours, and they don't give you the run around if you cancel a membership. I need to not forget the price, it's pretty good.
The facility is definitely nicer than some of the other YMCA locations in town. The locker rooms are up to date and seemed well kept. The sauna works great, especially compared to other Ys in the area. However, the free weight area is missing a few essentials for me (no incline bench? No fly machine?). It's a fine enough location if you're staying downtown and need somewhere to work out. I won't be making it my regular gym.
