If I could give zero stars I would! I have a 5 year old who is getting ready for massive surgery and had called several healthcare facilities when I landed upon Cooperative. I spoke with Robin Gladwill (The director) who stated to contact the insurance company which i did. She stated she would speak with insurance and proceed the following week and if i didnt hear from her then all was good. Well Homestate called me (as i let them know what was happening) and i was told they were never contacted. I called cooperative to speak with Robin about it. I called 3x a day for 9 days leaving voice messages, being told she is in a meeting, being told she will call me back. This last time I called I she was available but told the front desk lady to tell me she is working on it...working on what as you havent called me back or spoke to my insurance company or set up an applicant interview with me?!?! And yet your WAY too busy to get on the phone YOURSELF to tell me what is going on so now that my son is having surgery TOMORROW and I have been dealing or trying to deal with Robin for over a month thinking i had it all situated I am now at square one with another agency trying to make it happen in a rush ALL THANKS TO ROBIN! I HIGHLY do NOT recommend this agency and if I had my way Robin would ve finding a different line of work. If you choose for WHATEVER reason to go to them please go over EVERYTHING with a fine tooth comb as their word means ABSOLUTELY nothing and evidently people mean ABSOLUTELY nothing as well.
While an all-inclusive service organization, what was promised was not delivered. Frequent calls to rectify poor care giver services and concerns - lack of attention to medications being taken and hidden, lack of consistency doing basic PT and OT exercises, not to mention being late repeatedly and leaving early without letting the family know - went unresolved by Cooperative Home Care staff for weeks. Worker was "unloading" their problems on family members and saying "we're like family so I can share this with you" when they had only been there for 4 days! In my book this was emotional manipulation for job security. When asked to replace the worker - nothing but excuses. There were excuses and "scripted" responses to my concerns - we'll check into this and get back to you. Never heard back, I had to call back. The need to oversight to ensure the caregiver actually provided the requested and agreed upon services was HIGH - even when family members were in the home, they simply didn't do even the basic duties of the job - attention of my dad. Instead, they watched movies on their phone, some light housekeeping, but mostly avoided interacting and paying attention to his daily schedule. Don't get me started on the lies from the caregiver - arriving late 3 days in a row, leaving without contacting the agency or the family, thereby leaving my dad alone. Cooperative didn't even blink when the concerns were called in every few days! Needless to say, another service has been hired and is doing much better. There was no peace of mind while their caregiver was in the home.
If you have a loved one who needs daily home healthcare, find another company besides Cooperative. I waited to write a review. But people should know what this company does with its elderly clients. Some workers do a great job; others are more interested in how they can take advantage. One person, for example, crawled underneath an ironing board in my mother's room and fell asleep during the day while on duty. Another stole a substantial amount of money from my mother--and the kicker: they sent this woman back to my mother's home after I had reported her as asking my mother for money. That happened 10 months ago. We've yet to see a dime in reimbursement. All we get are excuses. It's likely the matter will need to resolved in court. Billing descriptions are also inconsistent and at times duplicative, which means you always have to check to make sure things are on track. There are better alternatives than this company. I recommend finding them and not using Cooperative, unless you have no other alternatives. If you do use them, be prepared to do major oversight on all they do, every day. Otherwise, you'll likely have a poor outcome, as we did.
