I do recommend this place just not a certain dr I have cancer and been having to deal with pleural effusions. I went in in sept and had a young dr who was very informative but was very careful about my condition which was nice. He got a dr to drain my lung kept me over night even came in and checked on me before he left. Great bedside manner. A couple weeks later I needed the other side drained and dr symonds did it. He was very informative, great bedside manner and truly cared about me. Two weeks later went back because it felt like fluid in lung but it was around it again, yet again had dr symonds and he did amazing. He came in rubbed my face and told me how sad he was for me and didn’t like me being back. I truly love that man and the nurse Steve who I’ve had 3 times. Well a week later my lung felt like it had fluid in it again so I went back Friday and dimicelli was the er dr and I will NEVER go back when it’s her. Thankfully Steve was my nurse and advocated for me but it didn’t work. I walk in tell her my story and she demands I get drains pit in and they won’t do the procedure I’ve had done 3 times because she isn’t confident and they don’t do it there (again had it done 3 times there so yes they do). She then told me I need to go to Omaha to see my cancer dr. I told her the ambulance won’t take me we tried the very first time I came in, she wanted to fight me on that. Hours later she comes back and says you’re right we cannot get you there but we can by helicopter. I said are you paying that because I’m not. I asked her can I just be admitted since you’re not comfortable with me leaving nor doing the procedure and seeing symonds tomorrow. She said no you’re getting drains. I said no I’m not and will follow up with cancer dr about that. I walked in around 12 and it was now 5 so I asked her what the plan is she said you’re going to st joe. I asked again and even Steve asked her and she told both of us no she’s getting drains. Finally at 8:30pm I was transferred to st joe for the dr to agree with me about doing the procedure and me meeting with my cancer dr and onco on wed. She refused to listen to me or my nurse. She was so set on me getting drains when she isn’t my dr nor the one to say when I get drains. I love this hospital and staff but she ruined it for me!!! If I ever have to go back I will call and make sure it’s not her.
