She is 66 years old, single, low income, lives alone, and her only child (me) lives several hundred miles away. I visit frequently, but can't be there all the time. It was important to me that she not just get the help she needed regarding daily chores and activities, but also find a service that could provide a level of companionship.After researching dozens of home healthcare options, I came upon 1st Ally. I saw that they had some of the best reviews in the area, and was excited to see that they are also on the DHSS approved list of providers. So, if you are going through DHSS (as I did), 1st Ally should be at the top of your list.1st Ally Review:Teniesha is fantastic; helpful, knowledgeable, professional, and thoughtful. She has always gone the extra mile any time I have had questions or needed clarity on anything from services to scheduling visits. She worked with me to set up a schedule that would provide my mother with the consistency that she desperately needs in her condition.Teniesha is very communicative. I never have any problem reaching her. Any time I have a question she gets back to me quickly, and is always happy to have a chat if I want to discuss anything. She also texts me regular updates about any possible visitation delays, and provides alternate care workers if one is out sick or on vacation.Care workers:I have no complaints about any of the staff I've interacted with, but I want to specifically mention my mother's current care provider, Lashonye (or "Ye," as her friends refer to her). She is a blessing.Ye started working with my mother several months ago and I have seen a real change in my mother's mood. Ye doesn't just provide services, she provides friendship. My mother absolutely loves her; they get along like peas and carrots. My mother can be a difficult lady (single working mom who takes zero guff), and in her diminished state she can be a handful. Ye's patience and grace is beyond me. She provides a level of stability and calmness that can't be measured by a 5-star review.Aside from helping my mother, Ye has also been a big help to me. She and I communicate regularly regarding everything from ordering my mother's groceries to any concerns she may have about medication, eating patterns, physical activity, etc. She doesn't just clock-in and clock-out, she serves as my eyes and ears so I know how my mother is doing. I'm so very grateful for the assistance and peace of mind she provides to both my mother and me.I'm very glad I discovered 1st Ally and whole-heartedly recommend them.“

“What else is there to say? Navigating dementia as a family is not easy and there is no set roadmap you can follow. We're a stubborn family. We're a self reliant family who thinks we can tackle anything we face and we don't need any help. We tend to think things like this "may work for other people, but not us". For once, we decided we needed "experts". And we got expertise in droves from MCHS. I am literally so inspired by the OT who worked with our family, that if I were young enough to go back to school, I would become an OT to try to do for other families what she did for us. They can help you create as much of a roadmap as your situation will allow. Clearly they care. Clearly they have experience. They're just that good at what they do.“

“Let me start by saying Thank you Lord for putting this place in my life. I have been truly blessed with all of the people I have met so far and they are all just wanting to help us!! I ended up very sick and need assistance and I was sent a email with over 500 different companies in this area, I prayed on it and I contacted my caseworker and he set it up.God led Joy and her team to me. They have the hearts to do this profession because if you don’t have that kind of heart you truly can’t take care of people in need, meaning Joy hires people who is led to her and sends the right one out to us. Thank you for everything. She is extremely resourceful and will go above and beyond for her clients ( family). I highly recommend!!!! No one wants to have to go thru this and have someone in their home but when things bring you down to thay level choose Joy! “I was very happy with the care I got from St Louis Home Health in Sunset Hills. My nurse was Mary and my physical therapist was Julie. Both were knowledgeable, compassionate, and personable. St Louis Home Health only deals with orthopedic patients, so they really know what they're doing. Mary only had to see me once, and Julie saw me six times after my right total knee replacement. I may get my left knee replaced next year, and I hope Julie will be my therapist.“
