I told them I want a comprehensive eye exam which would be coverted by my insurance. A month later I get a bill in the mail, for fundus photos that they had taken without getting my consent. Which are not covered under eye insurance.

I contacted this business looking for direction for our daughter who has a rare eye condition and I had seen one of their providers on YouTube with various educational videos. They were very prompt in their response and I actually had a very nice conversation with Dr. Fosso regarding our options. I very much appreciated his time basically providing a phone consultation without needing to travel to his clinic which would have been problematic since we live in a different state. He was also very honest and open with his professional opinion and suggestions even saying that this clinic might not be the best option for what our daughter needs which apparently is very rare. He even gave us some suggestions for other institutions that might be a better option for us. Being someone who has worked in the healthcare field for over a decade, I very much understand how a medical providers time is very much limited and precious, so I am even more blown away and appreciative of the time this doctor gave us. It has been my experience that a majority of providers that I have worked with would not do this. He clearly has a passion for what he does and for taking care of people. He even gave us his direct contact information if we had any other questions. Obviously this also speaks to the clinic in general having him on staff.

My husband and I were asked if we want to take extra pictures of eyeballs during the appointment. But we weren't told that those pictures weren't covered by the insurance. We got the bill $117 each person. So I called and asked what are those pictures for. They told me that the pictures could see deeper inside of eyeballs. I wasn't aware that pictures weren't covered by insurance. And I don't understand why they even offered the service to patient if there isn't a concern. I would have understand if eye doctor has concerns and would like to get better pictures in the deeper eyeballs. My husband and I just wanted to get yearly vision check-up, but now I have to pay extra $117 for the pictures that I don't think I really need to. This is really upsetting me especially during the COVID pandemic period. I could use those money for my kids if they're sick. That's why it is very IMPORTANT to make patient aware that the pictures aren't covered by vision and health insurance. In addition, my husband was asked to make another appointment to check his deeper eyeballs because of his diabetes. I thought those pictures were supposed to do the jobs.
